Midterm Exams
Picture
Mathematical Routines (MR) = 10 points
Use mathematics to analyze a scenario and make predictions by doing the following:
  • Derive relationships between variables
  • Calculate numerical values
  • Create and use graphical or visual representations

Translation Between Representations (TBR) = 12 points
Connect different representations of a scenario by doing the following:
  • Create visual representations
  • Derive mathematical equation representations
  • Draw graph representations that relate quantities
  • Justify consistency between two representations, predict and justify another situation using representations, or predict and justify if scenarios were altered

Experimental Design and Analysis (LAB) = 10 points
Create specific scientific procedures that can be used with appropriate data analysis techniques to determine an answer to given questions  by doing the following:
  • Describe an experimental procedure
  • Describe how to create a linear graph from the procedure
  • Given data, determine what values need to be graphed and graph the data
  • Using the developed graph, calculate an experimental value

Qualitative/Quantitative Translation (QQT) = 8 points
Connect the nature of a scneario, the physical laws that govern the scenario, and mathematical representations of that scneario to each other by doing the following:
  • Make and justify a claim qualitatively
  • Derive an equation quantitatively
  • Justify consistency between two translations, predict and justify another situation using representations, or predict and justify if scenarios were altered
